Manila, Philippines –X-Play Online Games is all set to up the tempo as NBA2K Online enters its open beta test (OBT) phase last November 24, 2015.
NBA2K Online is the online version of the NBA2K basketball video game series. The most recent of which was NBA2K 2016 which was released September 29,2015 for PS3, PS4, Windows, Xbox 360, Xbox One and on October 15, 2015 for Android, iPhone/iPod touch, iPad. The Intellectual Property (IP) is owned by 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., and is co-developed by Visual Concepts China and Tencent.
NBA2K Online offers immersive gameplay, rich player customization, and a massive online community, accessible via the PC. Several game modes like My Career, 3v3 Streetball, and 1v1 NBA Matchup will be available in the open beta test phase.
Given the Filipinos’ love for basketball, online gaming and in most cases, Player-vs-Player (PvP) matches, NBA2K Online to poised to carve a significant following in the local e-sports scene.
From Closed Beta Testing (CBT) to Open Beta Testing (OBT)
During the closed beta period, NBA2K Online invited gamers and enthusiasts. These CBT testers also enjoyed exclusive access at partner Internet cafes. CBT players can transition to OBT following instructions released by NBA2K Online.
X-Play Online Games General Manager Ronald Aquino said that for the OBT, there is currently a high demand for NBA2K Online installers from internet shop owners and gamers alike, in addition to the huge number of game client downloads seen each day.
In addition, Aquino said that a massive campaign is lined up for NBA2K Online, which includes free play events and on-the-spot tournaments in various internet shops, malls, and festivals. NBA2K will reach out to as many interested participants via print, digital, and television advertisements.
Online Liga ng Bayan and Item Mall
Filipinos love basketball. A lot of Filipinos are into online gaming, and most of them are into PvP. NBA2K Online offers an online game for basketball fanatics who loves the challenge. Competitive players can join the future in-game and on-ground tournaments for NBA2K Online during the OBT phase.
Of course, players would want to customize their avatars especially during tournaments. While the Item Mall was already open during the CBT phase, players will now be able to top-up their accounts during the OBT period. Players can buy top-up cards from partner prepaid card and gaming load retailers and distributors.
Just like in the CBT, the Item Mall is stacked with in-game items that players can use to upgrade and gear up their characters. There are also action packs that enable characters to shoot, layup, and dunk like real NBA players. There are also official NBA team jerseys and items available.
Game Content and Game Play
X-Play Online Games understands the players’ boredom when they hit the cap, go through all the game content and the frustration when bugs come out during content roll-out. NBA2K Online has 9 months worth of additional content which has already been completely tested internally and integrated in the game. X-Play will release the game content seamlessly, eliminating bugs during patch roll-outs while giving the players new game content for their enjoyment.
X-Play understands our country’s internet connectivity. Players can enjoy NBA2K Online and play the game even with 100ms and 40 kbps internet connectivity.
There is no minimum age limit to playing the game and there are Game Masters who monitors in-game player behavior and address player issues.
During OBT My Career, 3v3 Streetball, and 1v1 NBA Matchup will be available to players:
- In My Career, players need to train and guide their character up the NBA ranks. The experience includes being drafted by an NBA team, going up against other teams, and playing for awards and championships.
- In 1v1 NBA Matchup, players can use real NBA teams. Also available in this mode are legendary NBA Teams, like the 1996 Chicago Bulls, 1991 Los Angeles Lakers and 1986 Boston Celtics.
- In 3v3 Streetball mode, players form groups of three and go up against each other in four-minute matches. The games are set in different urban basketball court settings.
