BDO Unibank (BDO) and SM Supermalls worked together to honor, entertain, and give thanks to Overseas Filipinos during the recent Migrant Day celebrations held at three venues – the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at EDSA-Ortigas Avenue, SM North EDSA, and SM City Bacolod. The celebrations were led by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

During the festivities, BDO and SM entertained Overseas Filipinos with performances from comedians MC and Lassy, and cheered up up audiences with games and prizes. Aside from these, BDO representatives also shared financial literacy tips as well as information on how BDO can help Overseas Filipinos reach their financial goals.

“BDO values Overseas Filipinos because we understand the sacrifices they make for their families. That’s why we make sure that the remittances they send their beneficiaries are fast and reliable, that we keep providing them with financial lessons, and that we give them access to our products so that we can help them give their loved ones a better future, said BDO Remittance SVP and Head Genie Gloria. “We at BDO firmly support the welfare of our Overseas ‘kababayan’, and this has been possible with the help of the DMW and OWWA.”

Aside from the events at the DMW office, SM North EDSA, and SM City Bagolod, Migrant Workers’ Day celebrations were also held at SM Puerto Princesa, SM City Iloilo, SM City Davao (Ecoland), and SM City Tuguegarao. Off-mall activities were also held at Clark, Pampanga; Bacoor, Cavite; and Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

“This collaboration between BDO and SM Supermalls is a salute to our Overseas Filipinos and their families. They are our valued customers and we want them to be happy,” said Joaquin San Agustin, SM Supermalls SVP for Marketing. “This celebration is our small way of thanking our OFWs for the sacrifices they make. We pay tribute to them – they are our modern heroes.”
