PLDT High Speed Hitters promotes love for volleyball in Iloilo

Volleyball fans in Iloilo will get to experience the thrill of watching the exhibition game between PLDT High Speed Hitters and Petrogazz Angels on June 13, 2022 at the Tamasak Arena in Barotac Nuevo. This event is made possible by the partnership of the Barotac Nuevo local government and Gametime Sports.

27-year old Ilongga wing spiker Fiola Ceballos shared that she is excited about this game. “I am happy and overwhelmed because now I can show my kababayans how PLDT High Speed Hitters play live, and not just on TV.”

A volleyball standout from the Central Philippine University, Ceballos is among the homegrown talents in the sport coming from the Visayas region. For her, this is a chance to motivate young athletes from her hometown. “We can inspire them by showing how volleyball can help their lives and their families. In my case, [volleyball] helped me in my education: I graduated with a full scholarship from high school through college. It feels good to know that I can help my parents, and now, I’m earning by playing the sport that I love,” said Ceballos.

Supported by the country’s largest fully integrated telco network PLDT, the High Speed Hitters play in the Premier Volleyball League and aims to help promote the sport in the grassroots level by participating in various events off-season. PLDT is also committed to support the sport of volleyball via its partnership with the Philippine National Volleyball Federation.

“We are very deeply engaged in the development of Philippine sports and athletes through our various partnerships with different national sports associations and through the MVP Sports Foundation. We have always believed in the power of sports to make the lives of Filipinos better. Through events like these, we hope to fuel the love of Filipinos for volleyball,” said Jude Turcuato, Head of Sports at PLDT and Smart.

Preliminary games featuring local Iloilo teams will begin at 1:30PM, to be followed by the main event between PLDT High Speed Hitters and Petrogazz Angels at 5:30PM. For ticket details, visit the Barotac Nuevo Tourism Office.
