Over the years, Chef Yan has journeyed across Asia, meeting chefs, home-cooks and locals from all walks of life, getting inspiration from their stories and family recipes. This 8-episode series features over 30 dishes influenced by Chef Yan’s 20 years of experience and extensive travels, bringing out the distinct local flavors from 6 cities – Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

“I’ve been hosting food shows for more than 35 years and I never get sick of it! I’m a strong advocate of Asian cuisine and making it easy to replicate has been my lifelong mission. I’m glad this show will allow me to showcase how one can use a simple food staple, and produce many different variations!” said Martin Yan.

Warm your hearts and kitchens with home-cooked dishes from Chef Yan ranging from Fish Head Noodle Soup, Good Fortune Prawns to Chicken Eggplant Green Curry. In each episode, Chef Yan picks a food staple or cuisine as a theme and prepares a selection of dishes, bringing out the strong flavors and cooking methods from each city. Catch special guest appearances from Datuk Fazley Yaakob and Chef Hoang Minh Nhat as they collaborate with Chef Yan and share their special ingredients and techniques.

Curries can be found in various forms all over Asia and the sheer depth of flavors inspires Chey Yan to pick the absolute classics for this episode. From Indonesia, he cooks a mutton curry, influences by his travels to Padang in West Sumatra. From Thailand, he tackles the king of bases, the Green Curry paste from which all Thai curries seem to flow from. With a special guest appearance by Celebrity Chef Datuk Fazley Yaakob, they collaborate to cook up a Malaysian Classic Coconut Beef Curry. Datuk Fazley shares his insights and adds a unique twist by adding star fruit, bringing back fond memories of how his grandma used to cook this dish.

This episode sees Chef Yan celebrating the creativeness of Asia cuisine, and the dishes that inspire him to be a better chef. From Indonisia, a Spicy Grilled Chicken that is first boiled, then fried and then grilled! Followed by a Grilled Fish in Banana Leaf inspired from his travels to Malaysia. With a special guest appearance from a local chef, Chef Hoang Minh Nhat, who teaches him how to make the perfect Shrimp Mousse on a Stick accompanied by a garlic dipping sauce and a Vietnamese-inspired Rainbow Juice.
