Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) brings SIM registration closer to students to power their digital lifestyle. As the nation emerges from disruptions caused by COVID-19, students and teachers rely on the internet in the new normal of learning.

“Now that students are slowly going back to school, mobile connectivity will be critical as they go around and pursue their studies and passions like sports,” said Melvin Consunji-Nubla, First Vice President and Head of Go-To-Market  and Subscriber Management at Smart.

Smart has recently set up an assisted SIM Registration Booth at the De La Salle University in Manila to help the Lasallian community register their mobile numbers.

“I bought a Smart Prepaid SIM because the data packages are perfect for my needs. I believe that SIM registration will help curb fraud and protect subscribers from being victimized by text scams,” said Chemical Engineering student Sofia Pabale.

Smart urges students to register their SIMs

The multi-titled DLSU Lady Spikers dropped by the booth to register their Smart SIMs and urge their fellow students to do the same. They also stayed behind to sign exclusive Smart merchandise and interact with their supporters.

Mobile internet has been vital for student-athletes who had to go home and continue their education remotely due to the global health crisis.

“By registering my SIM, I am helping create a safer network for Filipinos. I urge my fellow youth to register their mobile numbers so we can help protect each other from cybercrimes,” said Jolina dela Cruz, outside hitter for the DLSU Women’s Volleyball team.

Smart is backstopping the Lady Spiker’s quest for a twelfth UAAP championship. The wards of Coach Ramil de Jesus are hungry for redemption after falling to the National University Lady Bulldogs last season.

Smart has been actively setting up assisted registration booths across the country to make SIM registration easier and more accessible to subscribers. Mobile users who fail to register their SIMs before the deadline on April 26, 2023, face deactivation as mandated by Republic Act No. 11934 or the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Act.

New and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers may visit PLDT and Smart stores, or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://smart.com.ph/simreg. Postpaid users can simply text YES to 5858, while Enterprise customers can confirm their registration through their authorized representatives.
