“Thirty years ago – that was when I first set foot at PLDT, trying my corporate luck after going through the rigorous process of recruitment. [This is] actually my first job,” said Monett Lansang, a PLDT employee who has served the company for 30 years.

According to Lansang, PLDT is her home where she has experienced her many firsts. It was her first job and her first time to be in a corporate firm. For her, it was her first time to be in a huge building. All of it was a meaningful reminder that has happened 30 years ago.

“Little did I know that I would spend so much of my waking hours in a company that everyone wants to be a part of,” Lansang said. “Thirty fruitful years. All through this span of time, I certainly witnessed a lot of radical changes in the company where I first saw the light of day as a corporate employee.”

Lansang’s first job was under the PLDT Inventory Department. It was her first crack at being a full-time employee. Everything was new to her, but she was always so eager to learn. Time passed by, and she knew that she needed to spread her wings. She transferred to the Procurement Department, where she has spent more than half of her stay at the company.

“I have loved PLDT since the very beginning. I am still enjoying my time from where I am now,” Lansang said. “After doing inventories, I learned the rudiments of procuring, of purchasing and of buying. The roles I play became those of sourcing, negotiating, analyzing competitors, and monitoring supplier performance.”

From then until now, Lansang shared how she has learned and continued to broaden her horizon on relationship management, time management, strategic thinking, change adaptability, risk management, sustainability enhancement, among others. “Learning all these have put everything into perspective,” she said.

For Lansang, her loyalty lies with the company that has given her so much in the last 30 years. As she embraces all the changes that have manifested through time, Lansang shared how it was PLDT that made her resilient despite the challenges that have enveloped her life. To her, 30 years serve as a manifestation of moments that have only made her a better and stronger version of herself.
