Over 430,000 Tweets provided a front row seat to Pia Wurtzbach’s fans for her triumphant return to the Philippines

The Twitter conversation peaked at 1:24pm on January 27 with 610 Tweets per minute when Pia triumphantly returned to the Kapamilya noontime variety program – @ItsShowtimeNa – for her first live, local TV experience as Miss Universe.

Meanwhile, the most Retweeted Tweet, or the most shared Tweet, of Pia’s homecoming trip came from @EatBulaga which showed comedian Jose Manalo with Pia at her best friend’s wedding:

Truly Confidently Beautiful with a Heart

Family comes first for Filipinos and true enough, Pia’s first stop was to meet her London-based mother, Cheryl Alonzo, who flew home to join the millions of Filipinos celebrating the return of her daughter. Captured on video and shared through Twitter, the heart-warming moment was the fourth most shared Tweet of Pia’s homecoming trip.

Besides family, Pia also made time for her countrymen, making every moment special and shared it live on Twitter – from the brave, recovering soldiers of the V.Luna /AFP medical center to the children of the Smile Train drive, a campaign that moves to boost awareness toward children born with facial deformities, and of course, at her homecoming parade and tribute show.

Pia connects with fans in the Philippines and worldwide

Not only did Twitter give a front row seat to Pia’s journey during her homecoming trip, it allowed her fans from the Philippines and around the world to really connect and get to know her better courtesy of the Twitter Q&A party, especially through her highly-engaging video answers.

The most notable question of the party was from 17-year old Filipino Jerel Labra who was based in Texas. The teenager bravely posted a Twitter video to ask Pia to be his prom date on April 23rd. Half a world away, Pia heard his voice on Twitter and she gave him a hopeful answer to his sweet “prom-posal” just as long as her schedule permits it.

After the conclusion of her official itinerary marked by a tribute show dedicated to her at the Araneta Coliseum, Pia extended her stay to fulfill her duty as one of the bridesmaids of her best friend @PauleenJLuna as she wed local noontime variety show host, Vic Sotto, which also trended on Twitter last January 30 through the hashtag #MrandMrsSotto.

Even though Pia has left the Philippines to continue her year-long reign as Miss Universe, her fans can continue to support and connect with her by following the @MissUniverse account.
