PLDT Global Corporation (PGC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary of championing technology for Filipinos and enterprises overseas by ensuring a stronger footprint in international connectivity infrastructure and innovative products and services in 2021.

“PGC’s success over the past 20 years reflect our commitment to enable millions of overseas Filipinos, a global network of carriers, enterprise customers, and distribution partners,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO at PGC.

In 2021, PGC – the international subsidiary of the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco PLDT — teamed up with Equinix, the world’s largest digital infrastructure company, to help customers experience faster speeds of cloud connection, enhanced business continuity services, and improved security.

PGC also renewed its partnership with Orange International Carriers to ensure the best user experience for international calls by guaranteeing network security and resiliency, and more aggressive partnership programs for traffic collection.

PGC also expanded its global virtual footprint to more countries in Asia, North America, and Europe to equip businesses with best-in-class technology solutions through various points of presence.

Compassion for employees and communities

To highlight the culture of excellence among employees, the company launched #PeopleofPGC and sent health kits, provided employees with work-from-home subsidies, and expanded employee benefits amid the pandemic.

“Our employees are the backbone of our company. PGC’s success is a testament to their hard work, our resiliency is a testament to their excellence,” added Villa-Real.

PGC also participated in the PLDT group’s Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko campaign, donating Smart Bro Pocket Wi-Fi units and noche buena packages to 120 students and teachers in Batangas.

Connecting global Filipinos

This year, PGC expanded its reach in the Middle East and Canada by partnering with CWallet and Hasty Market, respectively, serving a huge number of OFWs. PGC also launched campaigns like OFWins to reward customers and celebrate milestones in their lives.

The company also strengthened its Free Bee app, allowing OFWs to call and make seamless and worry-free transactions directly through the app. With over a million downloads, Free Bee has become the go-to app for brands who want to enter the OFW market.

All these, Villa-Real said, is just a step towards the exciting future of the company.“Our vision is to bring the services available locally to our Filipino workers abroad. We will continue to help empower and uplift our kababayans. This is a step towards the future – a future defined by digital connections,” he said.
