In this time of distance learning, smartphones are a lifeline to students – Save the Children Officers received 100 brand new OPPO A12es and Rockspace Torch Bluetooth earphones for the Project ARAL advocacy campaign.

Global smart device company OPPO donated 100 brand new units of the latest OPPO A12e and 100 new Rockspace Torch Bluetooth earphones to Save The Children for the Project ARAL advocacy campaign to help more Filipino students in the National Capital Region to enroll in online classes amid the new normal in online distance learning.

The smartphones and earphones are for students whose families may not be able to support their needs for the shift to online learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation is part of OPPO’s #eSchoolwithOPPO Back-To-School campaign which aims to help students go back to school equipped with a smartphone that can help them achieve an enriching learning experience even through online distance learning amid challenging times. Through OPPO’s #eSchoolwithOPPO Back-To-School campaign, students can avail of permanent price drops for some of its best-selling smartphones that include A9 2020, A5s, Reno2 and Reno2 F.

“OPPO is committed in its call to ensure education accessibility to Filipino students especially to those in need of support. We are more than happy to find ways to help more students to remain active in their studying under the new normal in online distance learning,” said OPPO Philippines Marketing Director Raymond Xia.

Save the Children CEO Atty. Alberto Muyot said that these newly-donated smartphones from OPPO will help hundreds of students to finish their studies amid the new normal, “We thank OPPO Philippines for being responsive to the needs of the most deprived and marginalized children who are at risk of being left out from the online/distance learning because their families could not afford to support their learning needs,” said Atty. Muyot.

Moreover, OPPO extended its partnership with Save The Children through a fundraising collaboration for Save the Children’s Project ARAL. The partnership aims to raise a total amount of PHP500,000 to help provide Basic Learning Kits to more than 500 Filipino students for their upcoming online classes. This kit will include art materials, notebooks, pencils, and other learning tools needed to ensure better educational experience among the beneficiaries.

The mechanics of the donation and other information related to this fundraising effort will be available in the coming days on the official website of Save The Children at www.savethechildren.net.

OPPO will continue to push for efforts in expanding the role of smartphone technology to encourage more students to enroll in schools during these uncertain times, and by making the most competitive smartphone technologies accessible to and affordable for the Filipinos.
