Nicorette: ‘Our Answer To Quit Smoking’

June 2022 – It is reported by the World Health Organization that tobacco kills more than 6 million people each year. Meanwhile, the Philippines is among the 15 countries worldwide burdened with tobacco-related health issues where 321 Filipinos die every day due to tobacco use, according to the Lung Center of the Philippines.

With this alarming number of cases, Johnson & Johnson (Philippines), Inc. (J&J Philippines) continues to do its part in taking care of Filipinos by introducing its medicated chewing gum, Nicorette, as the answer to quit smoking.

For a smoker, the journey towards quitting is inevitably challenging and may be unsuccessful for those who have no choice but to succumb to these hurdles such as dealing with cravings, withdrawals, and eliminating the habit that they’re bound to. There are too many questions running in their mind on how they can achieve their goal but with all the challenges, there are also seemingly not enough answers.

Luckily, they already have a partner in controlling their smoking cravings that could help them finally break free from smoking for good before it’s too late. Nicorette is a Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) product that works by releasing therapeutic nicotine in the bloodstream at much lower levels than in a cigarette, without the tar, carbon monoxide, and other harmful tobacco-smoke chemicals.

Nicorette provides relief from the pains of breaking free from smoking. It is medically proven to be 9x more successful by controlling smoking cravings in the critical first week of quitting smoking; and it works in as fast as 15 minutes, actively fighting against the 7 withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, difficulty concentrating, depressed mood, insomnia, irritability, restlessness, and increased appetite.

“Health has always been the most important aspect of life, especially with what our country and the world has experienced in the past two years. We’ve been encountering a lot of smokers who urgently need to and are trying to quit smoking either for their own health or for the sake of their family, but to no avail because quitting cold turkey is a huge challenge and they don’t know what else to do,” says Nicorette senior brand manager, Patti Rodriguez. “This is why we are glad to introduce Nicorette as our answer to quitting smoking. Smokers and family and friends of smokers finally have a concrete solution to breaking free from cigarettes, so that they breathe easy and spend their quality time with their family, finally take the strain off of their health, and just live happier and healthier lives together.”

In recognition of the recently concluded World No Tobacco Day, Nicorette held a Lazada live featuring a former smoker who talked about his quitting journey and inspired the audience on how Nicorette continuously helps him to succeed in his goal. Dr. Nishant Garodia of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Affairs team, who was a guest speaker at the event, discussed the science behind Nicorette and how it can benefit those who are actively trying to quit smoking.

“We must first set the expectation right. Quitting is a challenging task, and an individual may fail multiple times before successfully quitting for good.” says Dr. Garodia. “The goal of Nicorette is to wean you off nicotine dependence by first taking 8-12 gums per day for the first 12 weeks, then just 4-6 gums the following 2 weeks, and then finally 1-3 gums in the last 2 weeks until you no longer need Nicorette, and by then, you would be smoke-free as well.”

“This is just the start of our efforts in reaching smokers who don’t know how to quit smoking successfully. We will continue to do our part to help Filipino smokers everywhere in order for them to live a healthier, happier and tobacco-free life,” says Rodriguez.
