The idea of companies giving back to communities isn’t new. But while first iterations of corporate social responsibility (CSR) was anchored on handing out donations, most companies today recognize that their efforts are far more effective if they leverage on their core capabilities to make a difference.

Drawing on both their internal and customer network, LBC recently conducted a book donation drive to fulfill Library Renewal Partnership’s mission to build public libraries around the country.

Drop-off Kick-off, which leverages on LBC’s breadth in shipping and distribution, supports youth
development via athletics by collecting and distributing donated sports gear and equipment.
For community development, the brand has partnered with Gawad Kalinga to create homes in provinces that were devastated by typhoons, specifically in Capiz, Compostela Valley and Matag-ob, Leyte.
For youth development, they continue to focus on creating programs that assist kids to overcome post-Yolanda post-traumatic stress disorder through Field of Hope, a program designed to develop self-empowerment, building leadership skills and promoting active and healthy lifestyles within a safe environment. Similarly LBC has sponsored the education of over 150 children with World Vision.
The initiatives do not end with these. Because to the folks at LBC, the question is not why they have to help but what else they can do. Far be it for businesses to claim that CSR is part of the organization’s core strategy for growth, in the case of LBC, it’s authentic.
