Cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing industries today and presents a great number of opportunities for professional development. In the Women in IT podcast, five women from Kaspersky discuss how they built their careers in IT, in both technical and non-technical areas, and share advice for women aspiring to start their journey in cybersecurity.

To tackle the current talent gap in the industry, it is crucial for young women to see more role models. The latest Women in Tech report confirms this need, as 38% of women say that the lack of women in the tech industry makes them wary of starting a career in cybersecurity. To change this and help young professionals get “on-board” with cybersecurity, Kaspersky has taken one more step towards a more diverse and secure industry by launching a dedicated podcast.

The “Women in Tech” podcast starts with a five-part series that aims to help women explore a career path in cybersecurity, no matter if they have a technical background or not. Each episode introduces a special guest from Kaspersky’s Asia Pacific team and explores a career in public affairs, threat research, human resources, and sales within the cybersecurity industry. With the launch of the podcast, Kaspersky aims to inspire young women to start a career in IT and guide them, drawing on examples of the company’s female leaders.

In each episode, Kaspersky female professionals exclusively share their advice on what skills are required for any chosen field, how to look for a first job and run through a job interview successfully, and how to navigate through mistakes and failures and learn from them to further your career.

The “Women in IT” podcast was launched on October 26, 2021, with the first two episodes featuring Genie Gan, Head of Public Affairs for the Asia Pacific region, and Noushin Shabab, Senior Security researcher at Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT). The podcast is available on the Kaspersky Empower Women website.
