MANILA, PHILIPPINES–Google Philippines will be holding a free webinar to share insights, tips, and digital strategies that will benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and those who are thinking of starting their own small business.

The session titled ‘MSME Caravan: Digitalizing & Supporting Local Businesses’ will be streamed live on October 22 (Thursday) from 3:00PM to 6:00PM through Google Philippines’ YouTube channel and Facebook page. The webinar is free and accessible to the public.

The virtual event will feature entrepreneurs such as Reese Fernandez-Ruiz of Rags2Riches and Chelsea Quiambao of Le Fleur Cafe to share about building an entrepreneurial mindset. MSMEs like Dalareich Chocolate House from Bohol, White Beard Coffee from Siargao, and Kanami Supplies (woven masks) from Quezon City will also share their story–how they started and how the pandemic has challenged them to rise above difficulties.

They will be joined by content creator Madam Ely who will talk about the opportunities on YouTube for MSMEs, and Google leaders who will discuss how to kick-start a business and build an effective online presence through Google My Business. The event will be hosted by motivational speaker and TV host John Aguilar.

Google Philippines to hold free webinar on digitalizing and supporting MSMEs

“Digitalizing and supporting local businesses is important to Google. Earlier this year, we launched MSME Caravan to train more small businesses nationwide so they can strengthen their presence online and maximize the benefits of the growing digital economy,” said Mervin Wenke, Google Philippines Head of Communications and Public Affairs. “During the pandemic, this commitment has become even more important and we continued delivering on this goal by conducting more virtual workshops and entering into strategic partnerships. We hope that this webinar will be helpful to the MSME community so they can leverage the power of going digital for their business.”

According to the United Nations Development Programme, MSMEs play a crucial role in the inclusive economic recovery of the Philippines as they comprise 99.5% of businesses and employ about 63% of the workforce. MSMEs generated 40% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in previous years and this number has declined by 16.5% due to the impact of the pandemic.
