Last March, Bonifacio Global City and Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, in partnership with the Urban Farmers PH,  had its first harvest through the launch of the BGC Urban Farm. A 530-sqm community garden located at the Flats 5th avenue, the BGC Urban Farm is now open from 8AM to 5PM daily for those who wish to grow and cultivate their own produce or volunteer to farm right in the middle of the city.

To be part of this community, BGCitizens and visitors can simply adopt-a-pod for as low as P999 or P1,499/pod per month to get a 1m x 1.2m urban farm space available for them to sow and nourish their own fresh produce. They can also sign up or be a volunteer at the Urban Farm for at least an hour a day.

This urban farm is part of the estate’s #15MinuteBGC initiative and #TheSafeOutdoors efforts to ensure that everyone can have easy and safe access to one’s most basic, day-to-day needs. With the pandemic highlighting the need for systemic changes in the way we live, BGC, through Urban Farm, aims to promote community gardening and local food production and encourage residents and visitors alike to take the first step towards a more sustainable lifestyle.

FBDC Director for Leasing Business and Marketing Marc John Buencamino shares, “The BGC Urban Farm started with the idea of redesigning the estate as the community slowly eases its way to a post-pandemic reality. The concept was also brought about by supporting the passion points of our residents as well as making use of our open spaces to become welcome hubs for convergence amongst the community.”

Together with its partners, BGC aims to impart that it is possible to pursue agriculture even within the concrete jungle and harvest fresh produce from one’s own neighborhood. Through the BGC Urban Farm, BGC not only offers residents additional access to food, but it also fosters a better community through spaces that encourage people to interact and network.

Aside from adopting a pod or volunteering to farm, residents and visitors can also pick and pay vegetables and other crops as well as farming essentials from the BGC Urban Farm.

Taking a step towards a sustainable and safer earth is made easier in Bonifacio Global City! For more information and the latest updates, please visit Bonifacio Global City on Facebook and on Instagram.
