Another group of young students celebrated the graduation ceremony from ASUS ADOC Mobile e-learning center in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

The event was hosted by Urdaneta City Mayor Perez with prestigious guests from Chairman Perez of Manila Economic & Cultural Office, Representative Dr. Gary Song-Huann LIN of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in the Philippines, Chairman Billy Huang of Fil Chi Love & Care Foundation, and Country Manager, George Su of ASUS Technology Philippines.

ASUS ADOC Mobile e-learning center was donated by ASUS Foundation to the Philippines last 2010 under the project of APEC Digital Opportunity Center(known as ‘ADOC’).

ASUS Foundation has cooperated with ADOC Project in the Philippines to set up 5 ADOC e-learning Centers. 5 ASUS ADOC e-learning Center are located in rural area of Luzon, Visaya regions and each e-learning center is equipped with more than 20 pieces of ASUS Desktop PC’s, ASUS Monitors, and are staffed with two well-trained lecturers. 

ASUS ADOC Mobile e-learning center is transformed from a 40-feet-container trailer and is operated by Fil Chi Love & Care Foundation. It has roved around the rural villages of Luzon, Iloilo and other Visayas region giving opportunity to the people in provinces.

Representative Dr. Gary Song-Huann LIN of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in the Philippines gave a keynote speech to the newly graduated. According to Dr. Gary Lin of TECO Philippines, “ICT (Information Communication Technology) skill is critical in this new digital era. Taiwan is experienced with mature ICT industry and many Taiwanese companies are partnering with NGOs in the Philippines to provide the ICT literacy courses.”

ASUS Foundation has also sponsored ADOC International Volunteers program to Philippines since 2010 to 2014. ADOC International Volunteers program has sent several ASUS staff and college students from Taiwan to co-work with lecturers in ASUS ADOC e-learning centers.

More than 11 thousands of students, under-educated youth have got the opportunity to improve computer literacy with graduation certificate which may increase the chance of getting employed. “ASUS foundation is honored to have such chance co-working with many governmental units and NGOs in the Philippines by trying to minimize the digital divide among rural areas and metropolitan cities”, quoting George Su, the country manager of ASUS Technology Philippines.
