Xiaomi Redmi 1s Goes on Sale on Sep 4 for P5,599

Xiaomi Redmi 1s

The P5,599.00 Redmi 1s is Xiaomi’s performance-and-features-for-a-price-point smartphone, and judging from the specs, the build quality, the display, how it feels in your hand, and the price, there’s not a lot to complain about.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s specs

The nearest package that seems to match what the Redmi 1s offers is the PP6,500.00 ASUS ZenFone 5 with 2GB of RAM and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. But with Filipinos being price-conscious, raised eyebrows will follow the price tag, and that gaze right now belongs to the Xiaomi Redmi 1s. Also, the MIUI 5, Xiaomi’s UI on top of Android, could probably win awards in terms of intuitiveness and utility.

Yup, on the right of the Redmi 1s units are the powerbanks that go on sale today. And yes, I do have some of those Mi bunnies.

Hugo Barra Redmi 1s Launch

Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra presided over the press con at Draft Gastropub, Greenbelt 2. No need for emcees or someone to intro him. He’s the Hugo.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s cases

The Xiaomi Redmi 1s will hit the Lazada store along with other products accessories for the Redmi 1s: a P175 screen protector, P350 alternate hard covers, and P350 gel covers (the covers come in various colors). Below are two such covers.

Wonderfully textured design. You can probably have a Cover for the Day schedule with your Redmi 1s.

Standard gel case, because some of us want to go minimalist, low key, and as close to no-cover at all.

Xiaomi Powerbanks

Finally, this is me trying out how much more than 20,000 mAh of powerbank weighs in one hand. These powerbanks go on sale today.

We have a Xiaomi Redmi 1s review unit, so stay tuned for the unboxing followed by the full review.
