MyPhone opens its first Selfie Store, an experience zone, selfie center, and a promotion of young Filipino artistic talent

Buying a new MyPhone just got more fun. The first of several MyPhone Selfie Stores just opened at Cyberzone, SM Mall of Asia, last October 4, 2015. Attended by MyPhone endorsers Devon Seron and Kyle Vergara, the Store was designed by Pinoy artist Leeroy New, who imbued the store with a inviting feel – generous space, a happy colorful interior, headdresses available for zany selfies, unique backgrounds for better groufies, and select MyPhone units on display (so you can focus on trying them out before buying).

The young, the selfie, and artistic advocacy

MyPhone understands the selfie generation. We take selfies at the spur of the moment. But they successfully blend this realization with advocacy – the rationale behind creating these stores is to help promote young Filipino artists. (Leeroy New, best known for working on Lady Gaga’s outfit for her “Marry the Night” Album, had his artwork “Aliens of Manila,” adapted as part of the Selfie store interior.)

Different artists will be working on each store, assuring uniqueness in design but capturing the heart of each artist, the same one embedded on the MyPhone products sold in each Selfie Store to come.

Experience zones through and though

Visitors to the first MyPhone Selfie Store will also learn Philippine history and culture by listening to the various audio trivia clips. Digital content played are sampled from the most crucial parts of the country’s history – its heroes and artists – up to the local riddles (“bugtong”), and the selection even include cheesy pick-up lines.

“With the help of our homegrown artists, we will be able to make the MyPhone Selfie store an image of the Philippines, everything beautiful in it. It will be about MyPhone and the heart embedded in it,” said MyPhone CEO David S. Lim.

More artistic hubs to come
