Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, welcomed the third batch of Filipino students from the Philippines participating in Huawei’s Seeds for the Future International Study Program for 2018. A total of ten (10) students coming from the top Universities in the Philippines participated in the program namely, Al Bontogon and Nadia Lim of Ateneo De Manila University, Jan Bertel Ngo and Janelle Gaba of De la Salle University, Julius Macrohon and Vanessa Ley Huerto of Mapua University? Chris Lawrence Militante of University of San Carlos Cebu City and from the University of Southeastern Philippines-Davao and first place winner in the Department of Information Communication Technology’S Philippine Start-UP Challenge -‘Annie Marisse Insong, Daniella Javilles , Mariah Nicole Perez De Tagle.

A welcome ceremony was held in Beijing to formally open the training program. According to Mr. Daniel Guo Zhi, Vice President and COO of Huawei Philippines ,he is very happy to see many young talented students participating in Huawei Seeds for the Future Program. The Seeds for the Future Program will expose the students to the best and latest technologies in Huawei and allow them to train under Huawei experts in Shenzhen.

First Secretary Ivan Frank Olea of Philippine Embassy in China was the special guest of honor during the opening ceremony and he delivered the welcome speech. According to First Secretary Ivan Frank Olea, the Philippine Embassy is glad with the program that HUAWEI is implementing -preparing the youth to hone their ICT skills and knowledge and preparing them for their future careers in the ICT industry.

The first part of the international study program is exposure to Chinese Language ,culture and arts. The students learned basic Mandarin, calligraphy and Chinese Painting in Beijing. The second part of the program was held in Huawei Headquarters in Shenzhen where the students trained in Huawei’s International Training Center and Laboratory. They got hands-on experience on Huawei equipment guided by Huawei qualified instructors and Engineers.

The students flew back to the Philippines last November 4, 2018 bringing with them valuable experiences and learning that hopefully will inspire them to finish their respective courses and help them with their future careers in the ICT Industry.
